Arsenal have signed Danny Welbeck from Manchester United on a four year deal worth a reported £16m.
The centre forward marks the Gunners fifth senior signing of the summer and will no doubt slot straight into the first team after the international break.
The former Red Devils striker was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after they secured the signing of Ramadel Falcao today, and naturally Wenger being Wenger, eyed a bargain.
Interestingly, Welbeck averaged a Premier League goal every 2.2 games when starting as a centre forward, compared with every 7.0 in any other position (since Aug 2009). He’s managed 20 Premier League goals to date for United but has yet to manage over 23 starts in one domestic season.
The England international has 26 caps for England since his 2011 debut, scoring eight.

Certainly a step up from Yaya Sanogo and has bags of potential. Hopefully Wenger can work his magic, we have a player who is already acclimatized to English football.
As a side note, don’t really understand how we’ve not managed to secure a centre back signing. Even with Calum Chambers we are lacking in numbers since Thomas Vermaelen departed this summer.
Anyway, would you rather have had Welbeck or Mario Balotelli? Both £16million..One just has a little more baggage than the other.
