Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, 20, a product of the Arsenal academy since age 8 has signed for Ipswich Town for what is believed to be in the region of £1m.
The forward, predominantly a striker that can also play wing if need be, was simply keen for first team football after realising he was far down the pecking order at Arsenal.
Considered to have unlimited potential, Emmanuel Thomas failed to impress in his loan spell at Cardiff (scoring 2 goals in 16 appearances) at the end of last season, not helping his chances at breaking into the first team.
Talking about the move he said: “Obviously it came to the stage in my career at Arsenal where I needed to be playing games.
“I had a decision to make and Ipswich seemed the right place for me.
“I had a good time at Arsenal and I’m going to miss all the boys, but my future is about me and I needed to move on.

“I was impressed with what [Ipswich manager] Paul Jewell had to say – and the team he is building.
“I know he is looking to bring in more players and it’s the club’s ambition to get in the Premier League. That’s my goal as well, to play in the Premier League with Ipswich.”
Although we may be losing a great talent for the future, he was simply becoming dead weight at Arsenal and needed somewhere to get regular football. Only appearing in the Premier League once so far for Arsenal, it was obvious that he had to move on. I wish him all the best at Ipswich Town and hopefully he can help them join Arsenal in the Premier League!
