Young Arsenal defender Ignasi Miquel will spend the upcoming season on loan with Championship side Leicester City in a bid to secure regular game time.
The 20-year-old has struggled to gain regular first team action despite making his debut February 2011. Iggy has been the reserve team captain for a number of seasons and is one of the most promising young defenders in the Gunners ranks.
Miquel has been a part of Spain’s U16, U19, U21 and will look to gain experience playing first team action with the Foxes after a promising preseason with the Gunners.
The centre back has been used as a left back recently with a lack of opportunities to play centrally and will be eager to develop in his preferred position this season and build upon his first-team appearances next campaign with the Gunners when he returns.
A loan move was always the best solution for the youngster who requires more first team action and he will return a stronger player similarly to the likes of Wilshere who needed a loan spell away from the club to develop and become a stronger player.
