Chuba Akpom has enjoyed mixed success during his loan spell with Hull City, but certainly hit a high with his FA Cup hat-trick against Bury this past Saturday afternoon (via the Express).
The young forward has been struggling under Steve Bruce since throwing a bit of a tantrum late last year, with the 20-year-old reacting very badly indeed to being substituted.
He’s certainly put himself right back in the manager’s thought process with his three goals against Bury though, and may find his first team opportunities increase now.
Bruce wasn’t exactly full of praise for the 20-year-old Arsenal loanee, but suggested that the hat-trick would do him some good and help him progress.
“I’m delighted for Chuba. He spat his dummy out last week and threw his toys out of the pram,” he said.
“He’s a young player with lots of ability and I’m sure it’ll do him the world of good. It’s good to see him get a hat-trick and I’m sure he’ll remember that for a while.”

Akpom has long been one of the brightest striker prospects at Arsenal, but hasn’t quite kicked on as much as Arsene Wenger may have hoped. He looks like he’ll almost certainly make it as a Premier League level in the future, but whether or not he ever makes the breakthrough at Arsenal remains to be seen.
Whenever he was given his chances with Arsenal, getting into goalscoring positions didn’t seem to be his problem. He lacked the killer instinct to get the goals though, something which may improve naturally through consistent goalscoring.
Arsenal transfer news
It would be great to see him succeed at Arsenal, but that may never happen if he doesn’t enjoy successful loan spells and improve while away from the club.
