Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen feels that Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez has proven to be a better value for money addition than Red Devils record signing Angel di Maria.
The Chile international has scored seven goals in his last seven games in all competitions after a £35 million move from Barcelona. Di Maria too has been good in the initial weeks of his £59.7 million switch to United, but the Argentine hasn’t scored since the start of October.
Owen believes that Sanchez and Chelsea striker Diego Costa are better recruitments than Manchester United’s Angel di Maria and Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
According to Sportlobster, he said:
I think Sanchez and Costa look real value for money. I’d say those two were better value than the likes of Di Maria and Rodriguez.
The former striker further added that the Manchester club made a mistake selling Danny Welbeck to Arsenal. He added:
I think United’s current crop of strikers are the here and now. In 2 or 3 years they will need to reinvest a huge amount for their next star striker so I’d prefer to have seen a staggered approach in terms of age of strikers.
I’ve no doubt he’s got the quality to score goals for a top team. To be blunt, I would have kept Welbeck and not signed Falcao.
The Chilean has achieved more success than the Argentine since their move to the Premier League and Sanchez’s remarkable eight goals in 12 Premier League appearances dwarf’s Di Maria’s relatively modest three goals in nine games.
He specializes in the art of holding the ball and waiting for the play to develop around him. His first touch is superb, and he can twist any fullback in the Premier League around before getting on the wrong side of him. The main reason for his success is that he creates chances all by himself and does that through his exceptional ability to carry the ball past players.

The Chilean is a player with a world-class work ethic whose never say die attitude can make something happen by sheer will. There is no doubting Di Maria is an excellent player, but by the virtue of their performances so far Sanchez has been the better signing without any doubt.
Has Sanchez been the best Premier League buy this season?
