Arsene Wenger has given an optimistic update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s chances of being fit for the FA Cup final with Chelsea on May 27.
The 23-year-old has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring problem in the 2-0 win over Southampton at St Mary’s last weekend.
The Englishman is not expected to play again in the Premier League this season but does have a chance of being fit for the showcase at Wembley.
“I would say it’s 80-20,” Wenger said via the Daily Express when asked to rate Oxlade-Chamberlain’s chances of facing Chelsea.
The news will be a boost to the Gunners with the Ox having been in fine form recently and Arsene Wenger’s first choice at right wing-back following a switch to a back three.
Hector Bellerin looks set to continue in Oxlade-Chamberlain’s absence and if he is fit in time for the clash at Wembley, Wenger will have decisions to make over who will start.

Before then Arsenal face Sunderland in midweek before wrapping up their Premier League campaign with a visit from Everton.
With a top four finish still up for grabs, Wenger will be unlikely to rest any players ahead of the cup final and will hope to avoid any further injuries with both Laurent Koscielny and Alexis Sanchez struggling with minor problems ahead of the visit from Sunderland.
