Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to enhance his reputation as the most colourful member of our squad after he was asked an interesting question by the club’s official Youtube channel: which Arsenal star he’d like to see go up against Floyd Mayweather?
In typical fashion, Oxlade-Chamberlain deliberated for some time while ridiculing a few current Arsenal stars and ruling out their chances of beating the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter.
The 21-year-old finally named Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Debuchy as the two players capable of doing the job and he was particular about the Frenchman’s chances.
Arsenal news & rumours
“Wilsh (sic) would like to think he’s got a chance, he can talk the talk but he won’t do nothing,” Oxlade-Chamberlain said.
“I’ll give him 9 seconds before he gets knocked out.
- Arsenal must outmanoeuvre Galatasaray to win race for £2m ‘bargain’ transfer
- Arsenal reportedly set to sign free agent after impressive trial
- Arsenal have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich II star
“Rambo’s a dark horse and Debuchy’s a killer, I know it. He doesn’t say much but if you say the wrong thing to him, you’re dead.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain is clearly a character in the dressing room though his career seems to have stagnated in terms of performances on the pitch.
While his talent is unquestionable, the former Southampton academy star can’t seem to hold down a regular first-team place and struggles to make a significant impact to warrant a regular start.
