Oxlade-Chamberlain receives first cap for England

Gunners starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has earned his first cap for his country as the youngster came on in England’s friendly win against Norway in the 73rd minute.

The 18-year-old has taken yet another huge step forward in his career during his first season of top flight football after making his debut in place of the match winner Ashley Young, as the youngster played 20 minutes at the tail end of the match which ended 1-0 to Roy Hodgson’s side.

‘The Ox’ was involved instantly with a promising one-two with fellow Gunners team mate Theo Walcott in the Norwegian box, but was unlucky not to get on the end of the return pass. The attacking midfielder, who seemed to slot in behind Andy Carroll, made a couple of exciting trademark darting runs demonstrating what’s to come from the exciting attacker, and he will be hoping he can be more involved in the upcoming Euro championships.

Fellow Arsenal teammate Emmanuel Frimpong tweeted:

Spoke to Chambo this mornin and I swear he’s the most level headed guy I know soo happy for him on making his debut.

The 18-year-old joined Arsenal in a big money move from Southampton over the summer and burst onto the scene with some superb performances which saw the Englishman net two goals in his opening two matches for the Gunners first team. He was a surprise inclusion in Roy Hodgson’s Euro squad, but will certainly justify his inclusion if he gets his chance.

Congratulations to the Ox for reaching yet another milestone in his first season of top level football, you’re a far better player than Stewart Downing and with a bit more experience you will be sure starter.
