We’re expecting a number of our injured stars back in the coming weeks, but unfortunately Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t be back in time for our clash with West Bromwich Albion this weekend. The England international suffered an injury set-back during the week, and was unable to return to training ahead of the fixture, as reported by Sky Sports.
Arsene Wenger announced the news, claiming the 22-year-old was just a little short heading into this weekend’s action. He is also likely to miss our midweek Champions League clash with Dinamo Zagreb, although the manager claims he should be back for Norwich next weekend.
The good news is that Aaron Ramsey should return on Monday, and may even be fit to play on Tuesday in European competition.
“He [Oxlade-Chamberlain] had a slight little setback on Monday but we checked by scan and there is nothing wrong but he is still a fraction short for Saturday,” Wenger said.
“Ramsey will be back in full training on Monday and can play on Tuesday and Chamberlain I think against Norwich. Theo is ahead of schedule at the moment but he is still two weeks away.”
It’s obviously a blow not to have the Ox fit for this trip, as we are once again likely to rely on Joel Campbell down the right hand side. It also means there is no way to give Alexis Sanchez a break, as we just don’t have a replacement.

With Ramsey and Chamberlain set to return ahead of next weekend’s game however, there might be a chance for the Chilean to at the very least start a match from the bench. He’s looked totally out of sorts recently, and something has to be done.
