Mesut Ozil feels Arsenal are good enough to win the Champions League and says the team just need a bit of luck to taste glory in Europe’s top competition.
The Gunners have qualified for the knockout stages already but look set to go through as runners-up after drawing 1-1 with PSG at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger’s side have failed to get past the round-of-16 in recent seasons after having endured some tough draws and the World Cup winner feels they deserve some good fortune this time around.
“I think we have been missing a bit of luck, in every sense,” he told Marca.
“We have been pretty unlucky with the draw in the Champions League. These past few seasons we had Barcelona and Bayern very early on.”
Ozil also feels his side need to show more confidence in the knockout stages and has urged his team-mates to kick on and improve on recent seasons.

“And even then, we still had our chances. But I think we lacked a bit of confidence against the big teams, especially in those rounds,” he added.
“It is a series of factors but we believe we can make that jump. I hope to win the Champions League with Arsenal, I think we have a team that can do it. Like I said, we need a bit more luck, but why not… we have great players.
“Qualifying for the knockout stages proves we are doing things the right way and we’re on the right path. Arsenal always make it out of the group stage and now is the time to make that extra step.”
Arsenal conclude their campaign with a trip to FC Basel and will then await the draw for the knockout stages where they could face some big names if they do indeed finish in second place.
