Arsenal are closing in on a sensational Deadline Day record £42.4m deal for Real Madrid playmaker Mesut Ozil.
The German international has been hotly tipped to join the Gunners over the past week, and it seems all has fallen in Arsenal’s favour despite interest from Manchester United.
Ozil has been reported to have had a medical in Germany ahead of a deal with the north London club and it appears that he has put pen to paper and now we await an official announcement from the Club’s official website.
BBC Sport have revealed:
There a no issues or problems surrounding Arsenal’s club-record signing of Mesut Ozil. The deal is being processed and Arsenal plan to announce it in the next couple of hours.
It also appears that Arsenal will miss out on Chelsea’s Demba Ba as Wenger looks to provide a backup to Olivier Giroud. BBC Sport have also reported that the Blues do not want to loan their forward to a Premier League rival.
Not many other options up front which leaves any striker signing unlikely.
