Mesut Ozil has handed Arsenal a fitness scare ahead of Saturday’s trip to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League.
The Germany international was sent home from training due to illness and failed to complete the session as the Gunners step up preparations for their return to action.
However, according to Standard Sport, Ozil is just suffering from a “minor bug” and is expected to return to training before the trip to face Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Arsenal’s injury problems seem to be easing slightly with Laurent Koscielny, Alex Iwobi and Aaron Ramsey all having trained on Wednesday.
Ozil’s last appearance came in the 5-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern with the German having missed the FA Cup clash against Sutton United.
There have also been reports he has been struggling with a back injury and was handed some time off during Arsenal’s recent break from action due to their scheduled game against Southampton being postponed.

The Gunners should therefore be fit and firing for the trip to Anfield against a Liverpool side that were soundly beaten by Leicester City on Monday night.
The Reds have endured a miserable 2017 so far and Arsenal will be hoping to compound their troubles with a victory that would move them four points ahead of the Merseysiders and with a game in hand.
