Mesut Ozil has revealed he would love to wear the No.10 shirt at Arsenal, which currently belongs to Jack Wilshere out on loan at Bournemouth.
Ozil, who wears the No.11 shirt, has recently revealed he is willing to prolong his stay at the club provided Arsene Wenger remains as manager.
The World Cup winner has insisted he is very happy at Arsenal and has told the club he is ready to extend, amid intense speculation over his future.
Wenger’s future remains unclear, with the manager yet to confirm his plans for next season, and Ozil has revealed another factor which could help convince him to stay in north London.
“I would love to wear the 10 shirt, I always wanted that, the club knew from the beginning,” he told Kicker.
“When I came to Arsenal in 2013, Jack Wilshere already had the 10.

“The club said I would get the 10 when it was free. It has been free since Wilshere’s departure in the summer – I have not been able to do it yet.”
Wilshere has enjoyed a successful spell at Bournemouth but has recently been linked with a move to Everton in the summer.
Wenger has insisted the club will offer the midfielder a new contract and it would seem Ozil has not been handed the No.10 shirt as Arsenal expect Wilshere back next season.
Ozil has worn the No.11 shirt since joining from Real Madrid while Wilshere took over the No.10 shirt from Robin van Persie although whether he would be happy to hand it to his team-mate remains to be seen.
