Gunners star Mesut Ozil picked up a knock in his countries thrilling 3-5 win over Sweden on his 25th birthday, and was consequently whisked straight down the tunnel for immediate attention.
The German international scored and provided an assist in the exciting match that saw Ozil’s side crawl back from two goals down. But the former Real Madrid midfielder ended his night on a sour note by picking up a knock with less than 10 minutes remaining and was replaced by Julian Draxler.
German newspaper Bild stated on their live feed that the midfielder suffered a ‘bruised knee’ and was heading off for treatment, so it appears Gooners can breath a sigh of relief for now with initial reports suggest nothing serious.
Fingers crossed the Arsenal midfielder will be fine for the weekend’s trip to Norwich, shame that Ozil had to play the match that meant nothing for the all ready qualified Germany. But that’s international football for you.
Elsewhere Koscielny came through unscathed in his sides 3-0 victory while Mertesacker was an unused substitute as he’s reportedly suffering from a cold. Get some whisky down ya ‘Sack.
