Mesut Özil is confident he can win titles at Arsenal, but only if we make a couple more signings, as reported by the Daily Star.
Özil has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this season, with his fine form and Arsene Wenger’s seeming lack of ambition apparently the reason.
The World Cup winner claims he wants to play for the biggest clubs in the world, and while he insists he’s happy at Arsenal, he clearly believes Wenger should be doing more to build a title winning squad.
“I always want to play for the biggest teams in the world, and in the competitions like the Champions League and it is my goal to win many titles,” he said.
“And I know that I can win titles with this team but to achieve that we need a big squad, if players get injured, it’s just like that.
“That is why I said a lot of things have to be right, it is my aim to help the team and it is our goal to win titles and I think you can achieve that with Arsenal.

“You can realise your dreams here, and if we get in a few more good players, I think that will happen.”
We certainly need to make sure we keep Özil happy, as he’s unlikely to have any shortage of suitors if he were to look for a way out. He’s not wrong about needing reinforcements either, as we unquestionably need a couple of world class additions before we can comfortably call ourselves one of the biggest teams in the world.
You could argue that if Leicester can (potentially) win the title with the squad they currently have then we can certainly do it with ours. However, the competition in the Premier League isn’t likely to be at this level next season, and we’re way, way off competing for the Champions League with the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

It’s near impossible to see Özil leaving this summer, but if Wenger ignores the call for signings and something doesn’t change next season, then he may begin to consider his future.
