Mesut Özil was the Man of the Match once again this past Monday, with the German playmaker providing an assist and grabbing a goal himself against Bournemouth. It was the chances created that set a record for the 2015/16 season however, with Özil’s nine goal scoring opportunities created being more than any other player so far this season.
We all know that Özil is a creative genius, and he’s unquestionably been one of the best No.10’s in the world this season. So it’s hardly a surprise therefore, that the Arsenal star continues to set records in creativity, eclipsing all other midfielders in the Premier League.
9 – Mesut Ozil created nine goalscoring chances vs Bournemouth, the most by a player in a single Premier League game this season. Conductor.

The 2-0 win over the Cherries saw us move top of the table (at least temporarily), although we arguably should have won by a far bigger margin. Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud missed a number of clear-cut chances they really should have done better with, all of them provided by Özil. There was a real lack of clinical finishing from our forwards, but thankfully Özil and Gabriel Paulista stepped up.
We badly needed the win after our loss against Southampton, so sending Eddie Howe’s side away from the Emirates with nothing was massive. Beating a side of Bournemouth’s statute shouldn’t normally be considered much of an achievement, but the fact that we bounced back so well deserves some plaudits.

Özil is more than capable of breaking more records as the season goes on, and hopefully in the future our forwards are more ready to take the chances he puts on a plate for them.
