Mesut Özil has been excellent this season, and has been racking up assists left, right, and centre. His stats this season have made a number of the Premier League’s best playmakers and creative stars look distinctly average, and the German playmaker has more assists this season than Juan Mata, Cesc Fabregas, Eden Hazard, and Philippe Coutinho combined, as reported by the Metro.
The World Cup winner has been in record breaking form this season, and is the first player to assist in six consecutive games across a single season (via the Metro). He has already reached ten assists this season, while the previously mentioned Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool stars have only managed eight between them.
Chelsea are obviously in the midst of their most disastrous season in years, so it’s understandable that their star players aren’t producing the goods. Manchester United and Liverpool are enjoying decent season though, so the fact that their most creative players are nowhere near Özil is really saying something.

Not only do these figures show how impressive Özil has been, but also how poor the other three teams have been. It just backs up the notion that this season’s title is going to be between Manchester City and ourselves, and hopefully Özil is able to help ensure that it’s us that comes out on top.
