According to the Daily Express, Laurent Blanc’s side are in danger of breaching the regulations, and will therefore have to let one of their big name players leave the club. The report claims that because the 22-year-old is currently the only star that the French side have received an offer for, he may be the one to make way.
The youngster is already a key part of the squad, and with the likes of Mikel Arteta (via Goal) and Mathieu Flamini (via ESPN) possibly leaving us in the summer when their contracts expire, he could certainly bolster our midfield options.
Francis Coquelin has done an excellent job in the defensive midfield role, but needs the support that would allow him to be able to miss the occasional game and recharge his energy reserves. Unfortunately, Abou Diaby cannot be relied upon to be around when his countryman is in need of that rest.
Also, signing the Italian will allow for Santi Cazorla to have a little more freedom going forward. As good as he has been sitting behind the trio of Özil, Sanchez, and Ramsey, when he has joined them in attack he has arguably been one of our best players at dictating the play.
