There is a strange story by the Daily Star this morning that is suggesting imminent signing Gabriel Paulista is in France to complete the formalities of the deal.
While it does seem quite a roundabout approach, the Star claim that details of the transfer will be finalised more quickly in France than the UK, and so Paulista could yet be in the squad to face Aston Villa this weekend.
The Villarreal centre back is on the brink of joining Arsenal in a £11.2m deal and was granted a work permit earlier this week. Arsene Wenger even expected the deal to be announced by Monday yet still there has been no official confirmation from the North London outfit.
The report has suggested Paulista, who arrived in London on Monday, has bizarrely left to Paris to finalise the deal more quickly. But as long as he signs on the dotted line and we see him an Arsenal shirt in the coming days then that’s fine with me.
Meanwhile, Joel Campbell has completed his switch in the other direction to the La Liga outfit albeit on loan for the remainder of the campaign. That deal too has yet to be confirmed on Arsenal.com.
