Arsenal vice-captain Per Mertesacker has reserved special praise for his defensive partner Hector Bellerin after the Spaniard put in another impressive performance in a big game when we ran-out 4-1 winners against Liverpool, the German told Arsenal.com.
It has been a sensational season for Bellerin, making the right-back position his own following Mathieu Debuchy’s injury troubles this season.
After starring in games against Manchester City and Monaco away, Bellerin showed his dynamic qualities against Liverpool and opened the scoring with a sensational effort to start off a crazy eight-minute period in the game.

“He scored the first goal and that was vital,” Mertesacker told the club’s official website.
“He’s given us a lot of energy this season. He’s stepped up because we’ve had a lot of injuries but he gave us such a great energy and he’s capable of producing great performances like today.”
It has been a while since we had a right-back efficient at both ends on the pitch and comfortable with the ball at his feet in order to fit in with our style of play.

Bacary Sagna was a solid defender, but his lack of composure on the ball often broke down many moves in the final third and Bellerin’s marauding runs forward has become another weapon for Arsene Wenger.
