Sanchez was excellent during our Premier League clash with Hull, and bagged himself a brace either side of Aaron Ramsey’s goal. His first had an element of luck about it, with his well struck free kick taking a deflection off the head of Michael Dawson to leave Steve Harper flat footed in goal.
There was nothing lucky about his second however, with the Chilean rounding the keeper after racing onto a sumptuous ball from Aaron Ramsey that split the Hull defence wide open.
Mertesacker recognised the quality of the former Barcelona man’s second goal, highlighting not only Sanchez’s talent, but the performance of the team as well.
“[He’s] really important. The first one was deflected but the second goal was a really good team effort as well,” Mertesacker told Arsenal Player.

“He went in behind and the ball came from Aaron so everyone contributes a lot. I think that’s the most important – that we’re strong as a unit. After that game he stands out but that all comes from a massive unit.”
Our sensational summer signing has been superb in his debut season, and looks to be our best acquisition in years. He endured a slight slump at the start of 2015, but has been back to his best in recent weeks.
Hopefully he can maintain this level heading into next season, as we are really starting to look like a team who can challenge for the title.
