Arsenal have reportedly agreed terms with Alexander Lacazette ahead of a proposed summer transfer, however the Gunners are yet to offer Lyon their £40million evaluation, falling short with a £29m bid to date (via Le10Sport).
Arsene Wenger is in the market for a striker and clear links with Lacazette have dominated headlines over the past few weeks after failed attempts to land Jamie Vardy and Gonzalo Higuain.
The Gunners had a bid rejected last week by Lyon but are expected to go back with a higher offer, with the Ligue One outfit confirming the player can leave for the right price.
The report from France claims Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Lacazette and he will join Arsenal if the clubs can finalize a fee that satisfies both parties. With the Gunners wealth common knowledge, they will struggle to get a cut-price deal for the French international.
Attacking options are few and far between at present, with Romelu Lukaku seemingly set to return to Chelsea, Higuain confirmed a Juventus player and Alvaro Morata set for a Real Madrid stay. Lacazette seems the most viable option at present, however whether he is an upgrade on Olivier Giroud remains to be seen.
48 goals in two seasons with Lyon certainly suggests he can find the net, and perhaps under Wenger’s tutorship Lacazette can become one of France’s top strikers again. If the report is true, all that is left is for Arsenal to stump up the cash. Considering the start to the Premier League season is rapidly approaching, they would be wise to get this deal over the line as soon as possible so the player can link up with the squad.
