It’s often hard to tell whether Piers Morgan’s Twitter account is a parody, and the celebrity Arsenal fan finally seems to have lost it ahead of the January transfer window. The journalist has given Arsene Wenger a January transfer wishlist, and there are some truly ridiculous suggestions on there.
Morgan believes Wenger should show “how much he really wants to win the Premier League” by spending big in January, signing players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Pogba, and Robert Lewandowski.

We are unquestionably a massive club, but the majority of Arsenal fans aren’t delusional enough to think we’re capable of luring any player we want from clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich.
While Arsenal and Arsene Wenger still have massive draw when it comes to attracting players, there is a wage structure in place, we operate a certain way, and we don’t have an oil baron funding our transfers.

We’re never going to offer players £500,000 a week, and the likes of Ronaldo and Messi are unlikely to take a massive pay cut to make the move to North London. The simple fact is that certain players are out of our reach, as is the case for most clubs. Just like Tottenham have no chance of signing players like Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez, we have no chance of signing Messi, Neymar, or Luis Suarez – not while they are wanted at Barcelona anyway.
Wenger could definitely do with loosening the purse strings a little, but to suggest we go out and splash £200m on the world’s best players is ridiculous. This isn’t Fifa Piers…
