Celebrity Arsenal fan and Mail Online editor Piers Morgan has urged Arsene Wenger to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and believes that a deal could be possible if we throw money at the Spanish giants.
We CAN get Benzema. We just have to make RM an offer they can’t refuse. Start at £65m & go up by £5m a bid until they capitulate. #afc

Benzema has been heavily linked with us throughout the summer, but Wenger said after the win against Chelsea that rumours regarding a move for his compatriot were false.
“No, nothing is happening. Honestly no,” the boss said when asked about Benzema (via Arsenal Player).
Piers certainly doesn’t share the manager’s realism and claimed that with £200million in the bank, according to Arsenal director Lord Harris (via the Daily Mail), he has called on the boss to commit a large chunk of our finances towards signing the 27-year-old.

The fact that Wenger deployed Theo Walcott in a central striker role against Chelsea suggests that he may not be entirely sure about his first choice option in that position.
In years gone by, the boss has had a clear focal point to our attack and this team is clearly missing a player to lead the line who combines all the qualities needed.
Benzema could certainly be that man, but it is doubtful whether or not we can prise him away from the Spanish capital.
