An early Yaya Sanogo opener (yes, you read correctly) paved the way for a convincing Arsenal win over Jurgen Klopp’s men. Alexis Sanchez netting a stunning second and a couple more injury worries to add to the collection. Nice.
Here are the player ratings:
Martinez 7.5: Brilliant save just before halftime to deny an equalizer and another late on. Overall an assured performance from the young Argentine with plenty of routine saves.
Chambers 7.0: Attacked well and importantly kept hold of possession. Didn’t have too many troubles down the right wing.
Mertesacker 6.0: Looked a little exposed on the occasion with the defensive shape looking a little iffy at times. But dealt with the danger when needed. Will be pleased to have his partner in crime back this weekend (hopefully).

Monreal 6.5: Can’t wait for Koscielny to return but the Spaniard has done well in his absence. Was let off late on thanks to Martinez’s brilliant save.
Gibbs 7.5:Solid performance from Gibbs. Roamed forward and was defensively assured.
Arteta 7.0: Apart from his hilarious swipe after completely miss timing his tackle our captain was solid. Unfortunately his game ended yearly after picking up a leg injury. Hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Ramsey 6.5: A quiet performance from the Welshman but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Contributed to the clean sheet thanks to a more disciplined display.
Cazora 7.0: By far the best performance we’ve seen from Santi in a long time. Helped to dictate play and looked a lot with fluent tonight.
Alexis 9.0: No signs of being knackered, the Chilean kept up his usual high work rate and was a constant threat. Absolutely stunning goal. Need I say more?
Ox 7.5: Like Alexis he was a constant threat going forward with his driving runs. Almost scored a sensational half volley but was denied by the crossbar. Good work overall but still lacking with a final product. Congrats on the 100 appearances.
Sanogo 6.5: Great goal, brilliant composure. Then he showed the Sanogo we all know and love moments later when he skewed a good opportunity. Too many flicks, a few came off but was largely quiet from then on. Worked hard however. Hopefully he’s not injured too.
67′ Flamini 6.5: Helped solidify the midfield.
79′ Podolski 6.0: Barely touched the ball.
89′ Campbell 6.0: Did a run then lost it.
