Quick one today as I swiftly escape the Tax Payers Stadium
Firstly, massive shoutout to Betway who shouted me a hospitality ticket and took me pitch side after the game. I saw Granit Xhaka up close. What a specimen.
Here are the player ratings from an epic 5-1 victory:
GK) Petr Cech – 6
The Czech shot stopper had a relatively quiet afternoon. Little he could do with Carroll’s goal after the ball fell kindly after Payet’s free kick smashed the crossbar.
RB) Gabriel – 7
- ‘Break club record spend or look elsewhere’ Arsenal told
- Arsenal eye player Lionel Messi claimed to be ‘similar to Xavi’
- Arsenal urged to buy ‘January transfer window bargain’ for £6m
For a centre-half who has barely played a game at right back you have to give him some credit. His pace helped keep Payet quiet, however could offer more offensively. Took a bit of a battering but continued.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 8 –
Solid as ever. Made several crucial tackles and continues to be the rock at the back.
CB) Shkodran Mustafi – 7
Solid in the air and some good interceptions, Mustafi had little trouble with West Ham United’s woeful offence.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 6
His end product was terrible hence his lower rating, but he did find himself in several promising positions and defensively was more assured than in recent outings.
