Arsenal eye signing of £15m wonderkid compared to Chelsea’s Eden Hazard
The visitors parked the bus and played an extremely defensive game, as expected. We were unable to break them down, and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Here are our player ratings for our 0-0 draw with Chelsea:
GK) David Ospina – 6.5

Arguably lucky to get away with one when he collided with Oscar in the area. It was more of a coming together, but it’s definitely the kind of collision you see penalties given for.
RB) Hector Bellerin – 7.0
His positioning wasn’t always fantastic, but he did his defensive duties well and was a fantastic outlet going forward.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 7.5
A fantastic performance from the Frenchman, who regularly picked up the pieces and constantly found himself in the right place at the right time.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 7.5
Dominant in the air, dealing well with everything that came his way. Also made a hugely important challenge in the area.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 7.0
A solid defensive display from the Spaniard, who was clearly instructed to get forward sparingly. He put in a fantastic ball late on, which either Mesut Özil or Danny Welbeck should have got on the end of.
DM) Francis Coquelin – 7.5 (MotM)
His presence was once again hugely important, with Chelsea set up to hit us on the counter attack.
He was hampered slightly after picking up a yellow card, but was excellent before being substituted.
CM) Santi Cazorla – 7.0
Really smart on the ball, retaining possession well and using it wisely.
He missed a fantastic chance to score however, dragging it wide from a good position.
CAM) Mesut Özil – 7.0
A brilliant first half from the German, who looked creative and in control in midfield.
He tailed off somewhat in the second half though, and was far sloppier on the ball.
He also missed arguably the best chance of the game late on in the second half.
RAM) Aaron Ramsey – 6.5
Deploying the Welshman out wide was not what was called for today, and his desire to drift inside hurt us.
He was also rather poor in possession at times, and arguably should have been replaced.
LAM) Alexis Sanchez – 7.0
Excellent in the first half, and looked to be the player most likely to make something happen. He struggled far more after the break though, with Chelsea dominating the ball far more.
ST) Olivier Giroud – 6.5
A rather ineffective game from the Frenchman, although that was more down to the Chelsea defence than anything he did.
The visitors shut up shop and played with men behind the ball, and Giroud was starved of service for most of the game.
Substitutes:
Danny Welbeck – 6.0
Replaced Francis Coquelin late on, but was barely able to get on the ball.
Theo Walcott – 6.0
Given ten minutes to change the game after coming on for Giroud, but wasn’t able to impact the result.
