Arsenal surrendered another lead, this time against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 1-1 draw.
Team News – Match Reports – Player Ratings
Match: Arsenal v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Kick-Off (UK Time): 15:00 02/11/2019
Here’s how we rate the Arsenal players and head coach:
Unai Emery – 4
The lineup never really looked right against this Wolves side. The midfield diamond didn’t work and Arsenal’s success was always going to be dependent on individual moments.
Bernd Leno – 7
Bernd Leno produced a string of saves to keep Arsenal in the match.
Calum Chambers – 6.5
Calum Chambers was largely impressive. The Englishman looked solid at the back but some of that good work was undone by a lapse of concentration for the Wolves equaliser. He was a little out of position and should’ve done better against Jimenez.
David Luiz – 7
A decent day for him. David Luiz didn’t do a great deal wrong and defended well throughout.
Sokratis – 6.5
Sokratis did pretty well at the back. The Greek defender looked largely solid throughout both with and without the ball.
Kieran Tierney – 7.5
It was really impressive performance from Kieran Tierney. He had a tough afternoon up against Adama Traore but really adapted and lived up to the task. The Scot provided a good option moving forward and always seemed to be in the right place moving up and down the wing.
Sub: Sead Kolasinac (88′) – N/A
Lucas Torreira – 7
It was an interesting afternoon for Lucas Torreira. He didn’t play in that Granit Xhaka role as expected and was instead employed in more of a number 8 role. He did it well. Torreira was full of energy and very nearly found the back of the net in the first half.
Sub: Bukayo Saka (73′) – 6.5
Bukayo Saka did well. The youngster worked hard and had some good moments in attack, whipping in a couple of wonderful crosses.
Matteo Guendouzi – 6.5
Matteo Guendouzi did pretty well in the deeper midfield role today. It’s not the Frenchman’s best position but he started Arsenal’s move well from a deeper part of the pitch.
Dani Ceballos – 6
He had his moments. Both good and bad ones. Dani Ceballos had some good moments linking up with Mesut Ozil and Lucas Torreira in the centre but it was offset by a slow start and a loss of concentration for the goal.
Mesut Ozil – 6.5
Mesut Ozil had his moments but he didn’t quite have the same impact on this match as he did in midweek.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7
It was a good day for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He showed his quality and grabbed that crucial goal.
Alexandre Lacazette – 7.5
It was a good return to the Premier League starting lineup for him. Alexandre Lacazette was strong and combative all match long with some good build-up play. He produced a fine assist for his strike partner to cap a good hour.
Sub: Gabriel Martinelli (60′) – 6.5
He didn’t see as much of the ball as he would’ve wanted but Gabriel Martinelli showed his quality when he had it. The Brazilian worked hard with one memorable piece of defensive work involving him tracking all the way back to the left-back position.
