Few people had us down to get anything from this game, despite it being a must win after our disastrous start to the Champions League campaign. We put in a fantastic performance to get all three points though, with every player performing superbly and tactically outsmarting Pep Guardiola’s side.
Here’s how we rate the players from our 2-0 win over Bayern Munich:
GK) Petr Cech – 9.0 (MotM)
Cech’s performance tonight showed just how important it is to have your best keeper in big games, and he pulled off a number of truly world class stops.
RB) Hector Bellerin – 9.0

Where did that burst of pace come from in the 93rd minute? He was superb yet again, and dealt with the pace and trickery of Douglas Costa superbly. Can’t get over how great this kid is!
LB) Nacho Monreal – 8.0
A really solid performance from the Spaniard, who did really well against the movement of Thomas Muller.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 8.5
Robert Lewandowski is arguably the best forward in the world at the moment, and Laurent Koscielny kept him quiet excellently. Top quality defending yet again from the Frenchman.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 8.0
As bad as the German was against Watford, that’s how good he was against Bayern – particularly in the first half. He really benefited from us playing a deep line, and his positioning, the timing of his tackles, his reading of the game, and his aerial ability were all on display.
