We’ve been a little hit and miss so far this season, and our attacking threat has been non existent. It was hugely important we remedied that against Stoke, and from the first minute you could tell something was different.
We were phenomenal going forward, although needed to be far more clinical. Stoke couldn’t handle our creativity and the pace we played with, and we would have put far more past them if it weren’t for the heroics of Jack Butland.
Here is how we rate the Arsenal players’ performances:
GK) Petr Cech – 6.5
He didn’t have a huge amount to do, but didn’t lose his concentration regardless. Made a couple of decent saves, and was brave in the air when he needed to be.
RB) Hector Bellerin – 7.5
- Arsenal must outmanoeuvre Galatasaray to win race for £2m ‘bargain’ transfer
- Arsenal reportedly set to sign free agent after impressive trial
- Arsenal have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich II star
The Spaniard was brilliant yet again, and was involved a huge amount going forward. He put a number of good balls into the box, one of which should have been converted by Theo Walcott.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 7.0
Solid yet again, and actually got forward a lot more as well. He’s always an outlet for the more creative players to bounce off, and makes himself available to receive the ball when the likes of Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez get themselves into trouble.
CB) Gabriel – 7.5
Per Mertesacker may struggle to regain his starting spot if Gabriel keeps performing this well, as the Brazilian has barely put a foot wrong. His aggressive style is something we’ve lacked, and he looks to be settling into the Premier League superbly. Also gave Marko Arnautovic a nice little smack in the face.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 7.5
The French centre-back is now one of the best in the league, and shows it week in week out. His recent injury woes have been a real concern, but he looked at his best against Stoke.
