There were always concerns over our fitness and fatigue heading into this game, with a really energy sapping battle with Bayern Munich in midweek taking a lot out of our players. We showed enough to get the win though, with Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny grabbing the goals.
Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players following our 2-1 win over Everton:
GK) Petr Cech – 8.0
Yet again it was another hugely important performance from Cech, who made a number of key saves. His save in the dying minutes of the game was particularly important, and really saved us all three points.
RB) Hector Bellerin – 7.0

- Arsenal overtaken by new frontrunners to sign Houssem Aouar in January
- Ex-Arsenal star favouring a move to America’s MLS to restart career
A really solid performance from an increasingly important player in our squad. His overlapping runs were brilliant, and he dealt with the threat that Aaron Lennon occasionally caused.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 7.0
Monreal occasionally struggled with the pace and trickery of Gerard Deulofeu, but was defensively solid for the most part.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 7.5
An excellent display from the Frenchman, capped with what proved to be the winning goal.
CB) Gabriel Paulista – 7.0
Unlucky to see Ross Barkley’s shot deflect off him and past Cech, but put in some really important blocks and clearances. You could see what the final slide tackle meant to him in the 93rd minute.
