Arsenal fans were obviously hoping for a reaction following our disappointing midweek disaster against Olympiacos, but few would have expected such a dominant display against an in form Manchester United side.
It was a superb team display from back to front, and we played like a team capable of challenging for the league.
Here’s how we rated the Arsenal players following our 3-0 win over Manchester United:
GK) Petr Cech – 8.0
Despite racing into a dominant lead early on, things could have been very different if we conceded at an inopportune moment. Cech made a number of fantastic saves, including one superb reflex save to deny Anthony Martial. His display showed just how important a top quality keeper can be.
- Arsenal must outmanoeuvre Galatasaray to win race for £2m ‘bargain’ transfer
- Arsenal reportedly set to sign free agent after impressive trial
- Arsenal have ‘concrete interest’ in signing Bayern Munich II star
RB) Hector Bellerin – 8.0
Our full-backs were brilliant against United, not only creating some much needed width, but showing their defensive nous to keep Louis van Gaal’s side out.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 8.0
Monreal is the more defensive of the two Spanish full-backs, but picked his moments to get forward perfectly.
CB) Gabriel – 7.5
There was one moment of madness from the Brazilian which could have led to a goal, but other than that he was excellent throughout
CB) Per Mertesacker – 7.0
Mertesacker’s lack of pace was exposed a couple of times, particularly by Martial. He was also nudged off the ball a couple of times when he really should have been stronger, but he made a number of important clearances and interceptions.
