Here is how our players rated for the final.
GK) Wojciech Szczesny – 8
The tactic of coming for every ball to nullify Christian Benteke’s threat worked well and Szczesny executed it perfectly. However, the fact that Villa didn’t register a shot on target didn’t expose the lapses of concentration he is sometimes prone to.

RB) Hector Bellerin – 8
It has been an unbelievable whirlwind season for the Spaniard and he ended it with a sensational performance in a major final. Bellerin was sharp in the tackle and wonderful going forward.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 8
Was determined not to let Benteke win anything in the air and delivered a commanding performance. Capped it off with a goal which, fortunately, came off his shoulder.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 8
Our best central defender delivered once again and his task of marshalling Benteke on the ground was evident. The Frenchman was dominant in the challenge.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 8
A clean sheet in a major cup final isn’t easy and Monreal complicated our unit very well. The Spaniard is currently showing the difference in class between himself and Walcott.
