We watched our boys fly past a Singapore XI in the first of our Barclays Asia trophy clashes, with our pre-season getting off to a fast start.
Chuba Akpom was on target three times, while Jack Wilshere completed the 4-0 route.
Here are the player ratings for the clash:
GK) Damien Martinez – 6.0
This seems somewhat generous as the shot-stopper had nothing to do whatsoever. But he didn’t do anything wrong during his 45 minutes on the pitch.
Substitute: Wojciech Szczesny – 6.0

He wasn’t troubled any more than Martinez was, and apart from one moment where he rushed out to meet a long ball first, you would hardly have known he was on the pitch.
RB) Mathieu Debuchy – 6.5
He didn’t have a huge amount to do defensively, and things weren’t going right for him going forward initially. He grew into the game though and won the penalty for Jack Wilshere.
Substitute: Hector Bellerin – 7.5
The young Spaniard looked superb in his brief time on the pitch, and so far doesn’t look likely to be displaced by Debuchy in 2015/16. He was excellent going forward, and showed great feet to put a chance on a plate for Chuba Akpom to secure his hat-trick.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 6.0
The Spaniard is better known for his defensive attributes rather than going forward, and he had little to do at the back. He didn’t use the ball as well as he could have going forward, and his crossing in particular was extremely wayward.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 6.0
Dominant in the air against Singapore’s diminutive players, the giant German was relatively untroubled. He popped out of defence to make a few interceptions, but mostly relied on his height.
CB) Gabriel – 6.0
Hard to get any real idea about the Brazilian, but he looked solid in the few brief glimpses we got of him.
