It was always a tall order for us to overturn the 2-0 deficit from the first leg, and few had much hope that we’d actually achieve it. At least we didn’t roll over and die though, and despite losing 3-1 on the night, we gave a decent account of ourselves for the most part.
There were a couple of players who disappointed yet again, but equally there were a few players who really shone.
Here’s how we rate the players from our 3-1 loss against Barcelona:
GK) David Ospina – 6.5
Can’t really be considered at fault for any of the goals, and made a couple of great saves to keep the score down.

RB) Hector Bellerin – 6.0
Defensively shocking in the first half, constantly beaten by simple balls over the top to Neymar. He improved vastly in the second half though, and contributed well in attack too.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 6.0
Far and away our best defender in the first half, and while he was understandably caused some problems, he was solid for the most part.
CB) Gabriel Paulista – 5.5
His poor positioning kept Luis Suarez onside and allowed them to open the scoring, but apart from a couple of sloppy passes and mistakes he didn’t play terribly.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 5.5
A few defensive mistakes crept into his game, and he was the one who lost the ball for the first goal. He was also beaten by balls over the top far too easily on occasion.
