A game that really kicked off in the second half saw the Gunners cling on to a 2-1 lead after scoring a pair of vintage Arsenal goals. A superb second half performance from the entire team. Here are the Player Ratings:
Wojciech Szczesny | 8.0: Very unlucky not to get his clean sheet. Claimed every cross with no problems, was out quickly for long balls and pulled off some important saves when called on.

- Arsenal overtaken by new frontrunners to sign Houssem Aouar in January
- Ex-Arsenal star favouring a move to America’s MLS to restart career
Bacary Sagna | 7.5: Was superb for most of the game keeping Routledge and Davies quiet, and covering for Gnabry’s positional errors a few times. A lapse in his concentration was responsible for the start of the move that resulted in Swansea’s goal, but that was his only real mistake of the game.
Laurent Koscielny | 7.5: Has formed a very solid partnership with his German counterpart, the pair of them barely let Swansea near the goal and dominated in the air until Bony came on late in the game.
Per Mertesacker | 7.5: Very good defensively, was winning everything in the air, and had a couple of good attacking moments too. Possibly could have done better for Swansea’s goal with his lack of agility showing him up a bit.
Kieran Gibbs | 7.5: Played well, but sometimes allowed Dyer a bit too much freedom. Difficult with Wilshere in front of him who cuts inside a lot and lacks something defensively.
Mathieu Flamini | 8.0: Was outstanding today. Standing off when he needed to stand off, and pressing or going in hard at the right times too. Protected the back four very well which was vital due to Swansea’s strong midfield presence. Was commanding and vocal, and could even be seen ordering captain Per Mertesacker around.
Aaron Ramsey | 8.5: Fantastic second half performance. Ramsey was all over the pitch harassing and hurrying the midfield, joining attacks well and linking up well with Giroud and Wilshere. Provided the assist for the first goal and scored the second.
Mesut Özil | 7.0: Didn’t play badly, but when you know how much talent he possesses it’s easy to see how much better he is capable of playing. A few stray passes and dispossessions and didn’t offer a huge amount defensively.
Jack Wilshere | 7.5: Didn’t have a great first half at all. I don’t think he is the right player to play out wide, especially with Walcott missing, he drastically restricts our width. He needs the space in midfield to drive forward, and you could see that’s where he is supposed to be playing by how influential he was when he moved inside at times. Was integral to the build up of both goals. Really stepped up his game and got in Swansea’s faces in the second half.
Serge Gnabry | 7.5: Just like Jack, Gnabry didn’t have the best first half. I felt he was drifting inside too much, giving us even less width, and wasn’t really getting at players. Second half he was a lot more aggressive and active, took our first and his first premier league goal superbly.
Olivier Giroud | 7.5: Once again his hold up play was vital to us, he used his strength fantastically at times, giving other players a chance to get forward and join the attack. Played an important part in both goals, unselfishly assisting Aaron Ramsey for our second goal .
Mikel Arteta | 7.0: Came on late in the game for Gnabry to sure things up a bit.
Nacho Monreal | 7.o: Was on for a short time, pressed very well for the short time he was on the pitch.
Carl Jenkinson | N/A: Was only on briefly.
