We were always expected to steamroll over Watford, but everyone knows full well you can’t take any Premier League team for granted. The Horns put up a great fight in the first half, and dominated the midfield – with their physicality a particular problem.
We finally broke them down just past the hour mark, and then with blood in the water we really put them to the sword – scoring three goals in 12 minutes.
Here’s how we rate the players from our 3-0 win over Watford:
GK) Petr Cech – 7.0
The Czech international didn’t have a huge amount to do, but when called into action he did what was asked of him. There was a moment of real confusion between Per Mertesacker and himself, but thankfully it wasn’t costly.

RB) Hector Bellerin – 8.0
The Spaniard was excellent going forward, and was largely responsible for our width on the right. He arguably should have had a couple of assists, but finished the game with just one. He was caught out a couple of times defensively, but that was clearly down to the instructions he was given to get forward.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 7.5
Far more defensively disciplined than Bellerin, but consequently less of a threat going forward.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 7.5
Forced to make up for a number of Per Mertesacker’s mistakes, the Frenchman is badly missed when injured. His agility and pace is absolutely vital, and it will be great to see he and Gabriel partnered in the future.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 5.0
The German was really poor tonight, and not only saw his lack of pace exposed, but also struggled with his positioning.
