It just wasn’t our day against West Bromwich Albion. We didn’t play well enough to warrant the win, but everything seemed to go against us and heads understandably sank.
An injury to Francis Coquelin really rocked us early on, and despite taking the lead we really struggled to impose ourselves.
Here’s how we rate the players following our 2-1 loss to West Brom:
GK) Petr Cech – 6.0
He couldn’t do much to keep out the first goal, but arguably could have done better for the second.

- Two signings set in January as Arsenal give Arteta ‘vote of confidence’
- Norwich star says it ‘depends’ on club if Arsenal can sign him
RB) Hector Bellerin – 5.5
He got forward well, but his end product was lacking a little. He also struggled with James McClean at times.
LB) Nacho Monreal – 6.0
Defensively solid once again, but didn’t offer much going forward.
CB) Laurent Koscielny – 6.0
Neither centre-back was particularly poor, but as a unit we really struggled with the simplest of balls. We were undone by route one football at times, which hasn’t normally seemed as much of a problem recently.
CB) Per Mertesacker – 6.0
Could have organised the ranks a little better, but struggled after Francis Coquelin was taken off with very little protection ahead of him.
