According to reports in Italy, Lukas Podolski could be return to Arsenal in the summer as he struggles to impress on loan at Inter Milan.
It was expected the German World Cup winner would join Roberto Mancini’s side on a permanent basis at the end of his loan deal, but Tuttosport are claiming a deal could now not be on the cards.
The 29-year-old was excluded from Inter’s Europa League squad with fellow new signing Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich taking priority due to the strict squad limitations.
The forward moved to the Serie A side early on in the January transfer window and is yet to get off the mark. Podolski’s six appearances is thought to be the reason behind the discontent, but considering he’s started in four of the eight matches the Italian outfit have played since joining, the report quickly loses credibility.
Certainly the fact that he has yet to find the back of the net is uncharacteristic of the prolific German with his lethal left boot, but it is early days at his new club. It takes time to adjust to new surroundings and find his feet.
