Danny Welbeck has received death threats following his match winning goal against former club Manchester United, and was the victim of one particularly nasty racist tweet, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The England international has been targeted by a number of bitter Man United fans following our 2-1 FA Cup victory at Old Trafford, and the police are investigating one particularly vile tweet.
We are unable to post the tweet, as it contained a number of extreme profanities and highly offensive racist terms. It’s not the kind of thing we like to see in the game, and hopefully the culprit is tracked down and punished.
As well as the racist tweet our deadline day signing also received a number of death threats.
One saying: “Danny Welbeck I will find you and I will kill you.”

Another saying: “Hey Welbeck, when you die, I will celebrate it in front of your family.”
And one adding: “Somebody just KILL Welbeck! Can’t stand the a******! #RedOrDead#MUFC.”
Stay classy United fans!
To their credit, not all United fans joined in with the abuse; a number of them even applauding him as he left the field this past Monday.
He clearly still has admirers at the club, and many level headed fans are completely understanding of his reaction and choice to celebrate.
One fan wrote: “LVG didn’t show him any respect by selling him why should he show us any?”
It was great to see Welbeck celebrate his goal, and shows that despite being at the club a short time, he is already well on his way towards being a real Gooner.
