It’s really tricky to predict who will play against Sheffield Wednesday this Tuesday night, as we really don’t know how much stock Arsene Wenger is putting in the Capital One Cup this season. He will no doubt be looking to rest a huge number of players after a seriously busy schedule, but will he be looking to leave some senior players in to ensure a win?
Here is how we think Arsenal will lineup against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup:
GK) Petr Cech
Arsene Wenger has already confirmed that Cech will start in goal, citing David Ospina’s injury and suggesting Matt Macey wasn’t in contention (via talkSPORT).
RB) Mathieu Debuchy
The Frenchman has lost his starting spot to Hector Bellerin, but should get a chance in the COC. He’s looked rusty when given his sparse opportunities so far, but that may be down to his lengthy layoff injury last season.

LB) Kieran Gibbs
Gibbs has been somewhat unlucky this season, as when he’s played he’s actually looked solid. Nacho Monreal has really gone up a gear or two though, and Gibbs has therefore seen his chances limited.
CB) Calum Chambers
Wenger claims Per Mertesacker is available again following illness (via talkSPORT), but it may be too soon for him to start. Laurent Koscielny could do with a rest, so Chambers may get a start.
CB) Gabriel Paulista
The Brazilian has looked fantastic recently, and if he’s fully fit we expect him to start the game.
