Arsenal v Manchester City
Community Shield
Wembley Stadium
Kick off: August 10th, 2014 16.00 PM BST
FA Cup winners Arsenal face Premier League champions Manchester City in this weekend’s Community Shield fixture, with just one week to go until the new season we’ve had a stab at a likely Arsenal lineup.
Wojciech Szczesny is a sure starter between the sticks with both Mathieu Debuchy and Kieran Gibbs ahead as the fullbacks. In centre of defence we lack options really, and we will likely see Laurent Koscielny and Calum Chambers partnering in the absence of Per Mertesacker and Thomas Vermaelen.
In midfield there are a few options despite Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott missing. Mikel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey should start as the deeper of the midfielders with Santi Cazorla ahead as the No10. This means both Tomas Rosicky and Jack Wilshere will be resided to the bench.
On the wings Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are my picks with either Olivier Giroud (if he’s proven his fitness this week in training) or Yaya Sanogo (if he’s fit) starting up front. Probably Giroud.
