The Gunners host Cardiff City at Emirates on New Year’s Day but will do so without key players Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil who settled the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Laurent Kosicleny returned successfully against Newcastle and will no doubt be selected ahead of club captain Thomas Vermaelen, however the Belgian will feature in Arsenal’s next tie against the Spuds in the FA Cup should he recover from his illness, same goes for Nacho Monreal.
In midfield Mikel Arteta will likely be restored to the lineup after receiving a decent rest against the Magpies, ahead of him will be Wilshere and either Cazorla or Rosicky. Most likely the Spaniard.
Lukas Podolski should make his first start since returning from injury while Theo Walcott’s early withdrawal over the weekend should mean he starts again on the right.
Olivier Giroud will be afforded a rest against Spurs but should he recover from the Newcastle fixture he will be keen to add to his goal against Cardiff this week.
