Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday for what promises to be their most difficult challenge this season. The Chavs are the team to beat but the Gunners head there brimming with confidence after their midweek Champions League exploits.
Wojciech Szczesny will start between the sticks despite David Ospina’s heroics on Wednesday night. The backline picks itself with no other options still, Calum Chambers, Mertescielny and Kieran Gibbs forming the back four.
Mathieu Flamini will want to build upon a relatively decent outing against Galatasaray in the middle of the park with Jack Wilshere the only likely change to partner the Flame in the deeper midfield roles. Santi Cazorla did well in midweek but he will be overrun with Chelsea’s more robust midfield. Seems a necessary change.
Mesut Ozil will almost certainly start in his favoured No10 role and will look to pull the strings with Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on the wings and hat-trick hero Danny Welbeck spearheading the attack.
Here is the predicted lineup:
Chambers Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
Ox Ozil Sanchez
