Reports suggest Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for a new striker this summer, with PSG’s Edinson Cavani repeatedly being linked with us (via the Express).
We have just received a massive boost in the race for the Uruguayan, as PSG have apparently lowered their asking price from £50m (via the Express) down to £36m.

The Express claims that Cavani is unhappy at being in competition with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the giant Swede being PSG’s first choice striker. He is therefore looking for a move away from the Ligue 1 champions, and Arsene Wenger has been made aware of the reduction in the asking price.
The report goes on to say that we are facing competition from Juventus and Manchester United, with the Serie A giants already seeing a £29m bid rebuffed.
Cavani hasn’t been at his best since signing for PSG, but he is still a top quality forward. He has shone when given the chance up front, and could prove an excellent signing if we can secure his services.

A fee of £36m would make him our second biggest signing ever, but if he can help us challenge for the highest honours then it would be more than worth it.
