We have seemingly turned our attention to Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani in recent weeks, with a striker clearly a top priority, according to the Express.
The report claims the Ligue 1 champions have received an offer for the Uruguayan from an unnamed club, and are mulling it over before making a decision.
There are no hints about who the unnamed club may be, but there’s no reason to believe it isn’t us. Our desire to sign a new striker is well documented – with Karim Benzema heavily linked with a move to the Emirates this summer as well (via the Express) – and Cavani would certainly improve our squad.
The original report cites a story in Spain, which suggests both Cavani and PSG teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi are the subject of offers. Hopefully we are the ones making the offer, as if there are other teams interested then we may well see an inflated fee.

It would be foolish to head into the season without signing another striker, and the 28-year-old could prove the difference between winning and not winning the league. We’ve struggled for goals so far this season, which is disappointing given our excellent pre-season form. Hopefully we see a new arrival before the close of the window, and our fortunes improve before we fall too far behind the league leaders.
