Arsene Wenger indulged in his most lavish spending spree last summer, signing Alexis Sanchez, Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers, David Ospina and Danny Welbeck.
According to chairman Sir Chips Keswick, who confirmed in February following the release of our financial results, our summer expenditure reached a record £94million, with the signing of Gabriel in January breaking the £100m mark.
“The recent acquisition of defender Gabriel from Villarreal will take our total transfer expenditure for the year to well in excess of £100 million,” he was quoted as saying (via The Evening Standard).
