Benzema has surprisingly been left out of the Real Madrid squad which travelled to Munich for the Audi Cup, with AS reporting that he’s been left behind as a precautionary measure.
The same publication claimed that Arsene Wenger has set aside €65million as we plan to prise Benzema away from the Spanish giants this summer (via AS).
Speaking at the Audi Cup press conference, Benitez claimed that he didn’t “think” his No.9 would depart the club this despite the constant noises commentating on the contrary.

Wenger interestingly deployed Theo Walcott in the centre-forward position against Chelsea while naming Olivier Giroud on the bench, which may suggest that the boss is frustrated about the lack of a definitive option in that position.
The boss has always had a world-class striker in his most successful sides and that is clearly the only obvious position we need to strengthen this summer.
