Arsene Wenger is known to be a fan of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, and could finally get his man this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The La Liga giants are reportedly willing to cash in on Benzema come the end of the season, with the Star claiming they are hoping to fund a move to re-sign Juventus’ in form forward Alvaro Morata.
Madrid only sold Morata last year, with the youngster struggling for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Star report that they are ready to trigger a £21.6m release clause they inserted into the contract however, with Morata impressing hugely since his move to Serie A.
Benzema is a top quality striker, and would certainly add something to our side. But I am always hesitant about players competing for both club and country – as would be the case with Benzema and Olivier Giroud. One striker would inevitably be left disappointed, and you wouldn’t blame them if they were to look for an exit.
The report goes on to suggest that we will be facing competition for the Frenchman’s signature if we do look to bring him to the Emirates, with Liverpool and Manchester United also keen.

It’s hard to see Liverpool snatching him, but Manchester United – who are not only set to be back in the Champions League next season, but would also be able to potentially improve on our offer in terms of wages – could certainly beat us to the punch.
We may have to pull out all the stops if we want to bring him to London, but is Benzema the top class striker that could help fire us to the title?
