One might find it amusing to think Arsenal can win the Premier League especially when there is talk of Chelsea emulating the Invincibles. Here are the reasons I believe Arsenal can still win the league.
Chelsea will drop points:
Pellegrini described Chelsea as a small team after Manchester City drew with Chelsea. This was not sour grapes after a result that left Chelsea the happier team but it was the tactics Mourinho employed. Chelsea only knows how to park the bus and hit a team on the counter, a strategy that is doomed to fail sooner rather than later. Arsenal just needs to find consistency and there is no reason they cannot close the gap on Chelsea.
Players returning from injury:
- Arsenal star surprisingly reveals he is ‘open to a new adventure’
- [Team news] Arsenal line up vs Sheff Utd – Injury woes increase
- Predicted Arsenal line up vs Slavia Prague – It’s “all or nothing”
Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy, and Serge Gnabry… these are just a few players who will strengthen the team when they come back from injury. It is a blessing in disguise that Arsenal suffered these injuries early in the season rather than during the home stretch when injuries seem to hit them.
Strong attacking squad:
It is amazing how many attacking players Arsenal can call upon from the bench excluding those who are injured. Now…if only Wenger can only use the players at his disposal…Rosicky, Podolski and Joel Campbell are raring to go.
High expectations from fans:
After winning the FA cup last season, the only way Arsenal can show they have improved is to win either the Premier League or the Champions League. The players are aware of this and are determined to taste that winning feeling again. Competition has proved to be strong this time around but that only adds to their determination.
If Arsenal can continue to win games even when they are not playing at their best and keep within touching distance of the leading pack, I am convinced no one will be able to stop them when they are at full strength.
